It seems there is no longer any time for people’s senses, which are being increasingly underused. As the ability to write is slowly disappearing, some people have, in parallel, also lost their ability to see clearly.

Some people are even led to declare that analogue photography is dead. This statement is not only fundamentally wrong. After all, every technique in art always coexists alongside the full diversity of all other techniques. The prevalence of any given technique is often subject to fashionable trends over the long term in the market. We must sharpen our eyes for what lies right in front of us, very close by: ‘Paradise is here!’

Taking analogue photographs is not a mark of quality – it is a choice!

Born in Leipzig in 1960, I have been taking photographs, mainly in black and white, since early childhood. Since my work with The Oval Language and sound, black-and-white photography has come to represent the visual plane for noise and sound. As the universe exists in colour, black-and-white photography represents, for me, an optical extension of the world of noise and sound.
